BACKGROUND:

Brand name for an herbal mixture that has been sold in Europe, Canada and other parts of the world since around 2002. Sold as incense, manufacturers warn against human consumption.

LEGAL STATUS:

Spice is illegal. Class B under the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971). ). Illegal to possess (maximum penalty five years in jail) or supply (maximum penalty 14 years in jail).

FORM:

Light green, dried herbal mixture.

EFFECTS:

Smoked for its cannabis-like effects - relaxation, euphoria, heightened senses. Effects caused by a mixture of herbs and synthetic cannabinoids.

RISKS:

Possible respiratory problems with heavy use.
